Orange weather alerts (the second highest on a four-tier scale) due to strong winds are in effect across much Germany as of Wednesday evening (local time), March 13, following several days of severe weather across the country. As a result, Deutsche Bahn (Germany's national railway) warned of possible disruptions to train service across much of the country on Wednesday and advised travelers to verify their itineraries prior to departure. Updated information regarding local train service is available here. Further transportation disruptions (including hazardous road conditions) are possible. Conditions are expected to improve on Thursday.
