The Kaduna State Government imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Kajuru local government area (LGA) as of Wednesday, March 13. This curfew also extends to Kujama and Maraban Rido, both located in Chikun LGA (Kaduna state). According to authorities, the curfew in the affected areas will be in place from 18:00 to 06:00 (local time) until further notice. Heightened security measures, nightly movement restrictions, and ongoing tensions are to be expected in the coming weeks.
Many deaths have been recorded in the past month across Kajuru LGA (Kaduna state). Authorities reported that on March 10, unknown armed men entered Barde village in Kajuru LGA and started shooting sporadically, resulting in the deaths of 16 persons. On March 11, gunmen reportedly attacked Iri, Dogon Noma, and Ikirimi villages, also in Kajuru LGA. These latest killings have prompted authorities to impose the curfew. The government has directed security agencies to ensure strict enforcement of the curfew.
Individuals in Kaduna state are advised to monitor the situation, prepare for nightly movement restrictions, and adhere to instructions by local authorities.
