MTR chief of operations announced that services would likely not resume ahead of the morning commute on Tuesday, March 19. The Tsuen Wan line has been closed between Admiralty and Central Station since 03:00 (local time) on Monday, March 18, following a train collision during tests. MTR officials have urged passengers to use the Island line or alternate modes of transportation. Normal train service on the Tsuen Wan line is operational between Admiralty and Tsuen Wan. Transportation disruptions and crowded conditions are expected to persist during the morning and throughout the day on Tuesday. Further delays are possible.


The Tsuen Wan line closed between Admiralty and Central Station on Monday, March 18, following a train collision at 03:00 during a test of the signaling system. Two drivers were injured and taken to the hospital.


Individuals in Hong Kong are advised to confirm the status of MTR service, consider alternate modes of transportation, and allow additional time to reach their destination.
