Gunmen killed three workers, including two Chinese and one Congolese nationals, in an attack on mining facilities in Mambasa (Ituri province) on Sunday, March 17. The gunmen, who have yet to be identified as of Wednesday, March 20, reportedly stole several kilos of gold and a large amount of money before fleeing. A heightened security presence is to be expected around Mambasa in the coming weeks.


Individuals in the Ituri province are advised to monitor developments to the situation, remain vigilant for militant activity, avoid any large gatherings and demonstrations due to the risk of violence, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities or their home governments.
