Minsk will host various events related to the celebration of the national Unity of the Russian and Belarusian People on Tuesday, April 2. Related pro and anti-unity gatherings are possible throughout the day. Heightened security measures and significant traffic disruption are expected throughout Minsk on April 2.


The Day of Unity between the Peoples of Russia and Belarus is a national holiday in Belarus and marks the symbol of friendship, common tradition, and historical values between the two countries. In 1997, Minsk and Moscow signed the treaty on the union of the two countries, strengthening mutual economic and cultural ties.


Individuals in Minsk and across Belarus are advised to allow additional time to travel and obey all instructions issued by the local authorities.
