The CGTP union is planning to hold nationwide demonstrations on Wednesday, April 3. Associated strikes and protests are expected to be held in major urban areas, including Lima. The Federation of Civil Construction Workers of Peru (FTCCP) is calling on supporters to gather in Lima at Campo del Marte starting at 14:00 (local time) before marching to the Ministry of Labor. They will then join the CGTP rally that is scheduled to be held at Plaza Dos de Mayo from 16:00 to 21:00. Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are expected around all protest sites.

Context

The unions are protesting the labor policies of President Martín Vizcarra’s government. The groups also are calling for increased efforts by the government to combat corruption.
