Taxi drivers in Rome, Naples, Turin, Florence, and Genoa are on strike as of Wednesday, April 3, to denounce poor regulations on app-based ride-share services. A complete suspension of taxi services is expected until 22:00 (local time) on Wednesday in the abovementionned cities. Transportation disruptions and residual delays are expected during and following the strike.
Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor the situation, allow additional time to reach their destination, maintain flexible itineraries and schedules, and anticipate increased demand for alternate forms of transportation and taxis during and following the strike.
