Firefly, a Malaysian airline, will resume flights to Singapore's Seletar Airport (XSP) beginning the week of Monday, April 22, following a four-month suspension. The announcement was made on Friday, April 5, in a joint statement by Malaysian and Singaporean transportation authorities, which also addressed recent agreements in airspace and flight regulations. No timeline or schedule of Firefly flights has been released as this time and residual disruptions to operations are possible in the coming weeks.

Context

Firefly operations were suspended on December 1, 2018, due to an airspace and regulatory dispute between Malaysia and Singapore. The airline flies 14 turboprop aircraft with service between Malaysia, Singapore, Phuket (Thailand), and Banda Aceh (Indonesia). Prior to the suspension, Firefly operated 20 daily flights between Malaysia and Singapore.
