The CNTE (National Coordination of Education Workers) teachers' union has called for nationwide demonstrations to take place amid an ongoing nationwide 24-hour teachers strike on Friday, April 10. The exact time and location for the demonstrations remain unknown; however protesters in the capital Mexico city reportedly intend to establish camps in front of the Chamber of Deputies. A heightened security presence, and associated traffic disruptions, are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstration sites.
Teachers are protesting against educational reforms. A similar protest which took place on April 5 at Plaza de la Constitución (Zócalo) in Mexico city resulted in road closures.
Individuals in Mexico are advised to follow all instructions issued by local authorities, avoid all protests, budget extra time to reach their destinations, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
