Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Thursday, April 11, that Australia will hold federal parliamentary elections on Saturday, May 18. All 151 seats of the House of Representatives will be contested along with 76 Senatorial seats. Nominations will be announced on Wednesday, April 24, and early voting begins on Monday, April 29. Australia has compulsory voting and approximately 95 percent of eligible voters cast a ballot. Campaign events and associated localized disruptions are possible in the coming weeks.
