Opposition group plans protest in Minsk April 15; heightened security measures and traffic disruptions expected

A demonstration organized by the opposition Belarusian National Congress group is slated to take place in Minsk on Monday, April 15. Participants will reportedly rally outside the Presidential Residence from 18:00 (local time) to denounce the destruction of the memorial site to victims of the Soviet-era government in Kurapaty and to call for the removal of President Alexander Lukashenko. Related gatherings are also possible at the aforementioned memorial site Kurapaty. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are possible near the demonstration sites.
