False bomb threat causes flight delays at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) April 17; residual flight disruptions possible over the coming hours

TIMEFRAME expected from 4/17/2019, 12:00 AM until 4/17/2019, 11:59 PM (Africa/Nairobi). COUNTRY/REGION Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

A false bomb threat forced a Johannesburg-bound flight to abort takeoff from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) on Wednesday, April 17. Consequent flight delays were reported at the airport, which was temporarily closed following the incident to allow security personnel to sweep the area. Though the suspect has been apprehended, residual flight disruptions are possible at NBO over the coming hours.

Individuals flying via NBO are advised to monitor developments to the situation, prepare for residual flight disruptions (i.e. delays and cancelations), confirm flight reservations, and contact their airline for more information.
