Event

Organizers have suspended an indefinite nationwide strike called by the National Autonomous Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research (SNAESURS), originally set to launch on Friday, April 19. According to a union representative, the strike was called off in light of progress made during negotiations with the government on April 18. Negotiations are currently scheduled to continue on April 25.

Renewed calls for strikes or protests remain possible despite this development, particularly in the event that negotiations break down. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected around any related demonstrations.

Advice

Individuals in Guinea are advised to monitor the situation, avoid any potential protests or demonstrations due to the risk of violence, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
