Various civil society organizations are planning to hold a rally against nuclear power in Brussels on Friday, April 26. The protest will start at 15:00 (local time) at Gare du Nord before participants march to the Engie Electrabel energy company headquarters at 16:00. While city officials have approved the demonstration, a heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around the protest.
The demonstration is being held on the 33rd anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Organizers are calling for an end to the use of nuclear power due to the possibility of similar accidents occurring and the lasting impact it could have on Belgium.
Individuals in Brussels are advised to avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution and allow additional time to travel.
