The National Union of Higher Education Teachers (SYNES) is planning to start a three-day strike on Monday, May 13, to protest the delayed salary payments. University teachers will cease all academic activities starting at 07:30 (local time). According to union leaders, further strikes are possible if the government fails to make the payments. Associated demonstrations may also take place during the work stoppage, but no protests have been announced as of Saturday, May 4.
Individuals in Cameroon are advised to closely monitor the situation, adhere to advice issued by local authorities or their home governments, and any protests or large gatherings due to the risk of associated violence.
