French gendarmes responded to a shooting in Sainte-Maxime (Var department) at approximately 18:00 (local time) on Tuesday, May 7. The suspect reported fired shots on Chemin des Virgiles before barricading himself in a nearby apartment. A special gendarme unit has deployed to the area. No injuries were immediately reported.
