A Biman Bangladesh passenger aircraft overran a runway at Yangon International Airport (RGN) on Wednesday evening (local time), May 8. Flight BG060 reportedly slid off the runway around 18:30 as it landed in adverse weather conditions. Airport officials temporarily suspended operations at RGN until further notice due to heavy rain and diverted all flights to Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT). According to local media sources, at least 17 people were admitted to the hospital for associated injuries.

Flight delays are likely in the coming hours.
