False bomb alert at government building in Yerevan May 14; heightened security presence likely over coming hours

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has indicated that an earlier report of an explosive device in Government Building No. 3 in Yerevan on Tuesday, May 14, was determined to be false. The report was received at 14:18 (local time), and a fire and rescue squad, as well as a crisis management operative team, were dispatched to the scene. Those in the building were initially evacuated; after determining the report to be a hoax, staff were permitted to reenter the building.

A heightened security presence remains likely in the affected area over the coming hours.  


Individuals in Yerevan are advised to monitor developments to the situation, report suspicious objects and behavior to police, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
