The Rail, Maritime, and Transport (RMT) union is planning to hold a demonstration in London on Thursday, May 16, prior to the start of a three-day strike by London Underground workers. RMT leaders are calling for members and supporters to gather outside the City Hall at 09:00 (local time) to call on the mayor to prevent planned cuts to preparation and inspection schedules for tub trains. Localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around the demonstration site.

On the following day, more than 1000 London Underground maintenance and engineering workers plan to stage starting at 07:00 on Friday, May 17, until 07:00 on Monday, May 19. The strike will take place over the weekend of the Football Association Challenge Cup and will likely affect thousands of fans attending the match. Large crowds and transportation disruptions are expected during the strike period.

Advice

Individuals in London are advised to monitor developments to the situation, anticipate disruptions to transportation and increased demand for alternative modes of transport, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
