A Women's March is set to take place nationwide on Tuesday, May 28, amid the "International Day of Action for Women's Health" to demand the legalisation of abortion. In the capital Buenos Aires, protesters will gather at 15:30 (local time) outside the National Congress building, where a related law will be voted. Increased security measures and localized transportation disruptions are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the demonstration.
The bill aims at legalizing abortion up to the 14th week of pregnancy and was passed by the lower house of Congress on June 14, 2018. The Senate has however struck down efforts to legalize abortion since then.
Individuals in Argentina, notably in Buenos Aires, are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution and prepare for traffic disruptions.
