A river cruise ship sunk into the Danube River in Budapest on the night (local time) of Wednesday, May 29, after being struck by another vessel near the parliament building. The incident occurred at approximately 22:00 while the ship was moored. Officials have confirmed at least seven fatalities and another 19 people, primarily tourists from South Korea, are missing. Rescue efforts are ongoing as of the morning of Thursday, May 30. Authorities are searching several kilometers of river’s banks as the strong current may have carried victims further downstream.
