Indonesian authorities reported an attempted suicide bombing in Sukoharjo (Central Java province) on Tuesday, June 4. According to the report, a man attempted to detonate low-grade explosives outside a police station. The suspect was wounded in the attack and has been detained. A heightened security presence is possible in the coming hours and days across Indonesia as the country celebrates Hari Raya Idul Fitri, also known as Eid al-Fitr.
Indonesia will observe the end of Ramadan, or Puasa, with Hari Raya Idul Fitri celebrations. Bombings and attacks in Surabaya (East Java province) killed around 30 people in 2018.
Individuals in Indonesia, particularly Central Java province, are advised to monitor the situation, avoid large public gatherings as a precaution, remain vigilant for militant and suspicious behavior, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
