Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has been evacuated on Thursday morning (local time), June 6, to rescreen passengers following a four-hour power outage at the airport on Wednesday night, June 5. The terminals most affected by the power outage were reportedly Terminals 1 and 7, serving Southwest and United airlines, respectively; jetways and traffic signals were also affected.

LAX authorities reported at 06:49 that the rescreening process in Terminal 1 was expected to take about one hour. Southwest Airlines has reported some 11 cancelations and 15 delays associated with the Thursday morning rescreening process. Additional flight delays and cancelations, as well as crowded conditions, are to be expected at LAX over the coming hours.  


Potentially affected individuals traveling via LAX are advised to budget additional time to proceed through check-in and security, anticipate residual flight delays and cancelations, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, and contact their airline for more information.
