The man access road to Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), which provides service for Bengaluru (the capital of Karnataka state), will be closed from Monday, June 10, for expansion work. According to airport officials, the current four land road will be expanded to ten lanes. During the expansion, traffic will be diverted to a recently constructed six-lane South Access Road (SAR), which was built parallel to the existing route. According to the initial schedule, the main access road will be closed for two years. Associated traffic disruptions, including longer travel times, are possible in the coming weeks.
Travelers flying to or from BLR are advised to monitor developments to the situation and allow additional time to travel to the airport.
