TIMEFRAME expected from 6/7/2019, 12:00 AM until 6/10/2019, 11:59 PM (America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires). COUNTRY/REGION La Plata, Buenos Aires

Military veterans are slated to hold rallies in La Plata and Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires province) on Sunday, June 9, and Monday, June 10, in protests related to the sovereignty dispute over the Falkland Islands (Las Malvinas). In La Plata, protesters will rally at the Plaza Malvinas Argentinas from 14:00 (local time) on Sunday, while participants in Buenos Aires will gather outside the British Embassy at 16:00 on Monday.

A heightened security presence is to be expected and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected around related protests.

The protest comes amid the National Day of Affirmation of Argentinian Rights over the Malvinas Islands, which marks the anniversary of the 1982 military conflict between Britain and Argentina over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands (known as the Las Malvinas in Argentina).

Individuals in Buenos Aires are advised to plan alternate routes to avoid the demonstration areas and to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
