Participants at the LGBT Pride parade in Washington (DC) dispersed, resulting in several injuries, on Saturday, June 8, following false reports of an active shooter. Hundreds of people had gathered in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of the city to participate and watch the parade when reports of an active shooter spread, causing people to run from the scene. According to DC police officials, a man was apprehended while in possession of a firearm, but no gunshots were fired. A heightened security presence and associated disruptions are expected in the area in the coming hours.
