Police officers reportedly detained over 400 protesters in Moscow on Wednesday, June 12, during a protest march of over 1000 people through the capital. Protesters denounced police officers' alleged framing and unjust detainment of journalist Ivan Golunov on drug charges, calling for police involved in the case to be punished. A heightened police presence was reported around the protest as police blocked demonstrators from accessing some streets.

Similar protests are possible in Moscow over the coming days and weeks amid a heightened security presence. Localized traffic disruptions are to be expected around demonstrations.
