Unidentified gunmen have killed at least 35 people in attacks on three villages in Shinkafi local government area (Zamfara state), per reports on Saturday, June 15.

Similar attacks are possible in Zamfara state over the near term.


Intercommunal clashes are common in Nigeria, especially between nomadic and settled communities. Notably, on March 30-31, unidentified armed men attacked five villages in Shinkafi local government area (Zamfara state), killing at least 28 people.
