Operations resumed at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) on the afternoon (local time) of Saturday, June 15, after an aircraft was disabled on the runway. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as of 20:50 EWR is experiencing average delays of five hours. Residual flight disruptions are expected through Saturday and possibly into Sunday, June 16.
Flight operations were temporarily suspended after a United Airlines aircraft made a hard landing at EWR, blowing out some of the landing gear tires. All passengers were safely evacuated from the plane and no serious injures were reported. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Individuals flying via EWR are advised to monitor developments, prepare for lingering flight delays, and contact their airline for more information before coming to the airport.
