Former Lebanese soldiers are reportedly protesting in Beirut as of Wednesday, June 19, to denounce the voted 2019 austerity budget. Protesters are reportedly holding a sit-in outside the Ministry of Finance on Bechara EL Khoury street and blocking access to the building. Tensions between the protesters and security forces were reported as security forces were allowing Ministry workers inside the building.

Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Individuals in Lebanon, particularly in Beirut, are advised to monitor for developments of the situation and avoid all protests.
