After one day of strikes, police officers and firefighters in Rio Grande have reached a consensus on Monday (evening), June 17, putting an end to the indefinite strike. The agreement states that wage restructuring will be addressed, and the government also agreed to pay backlogged salaries by December 2019. As such, normal police and firefighters operations are expected to resume on Wednesday, June 19. Further negotiations will continue this week. Strikes may nevertheless resume, if the government fails to address the demands.
