Fishermen gathered to protest on Tuesday, June 18, at the federal Acapulco-Zihuatanejo highway located near Atoyac (Jalisco state) to demand for the government to clean the Mitla Lagoon due to pollution, which has barred them from fishing. The protest took place from 05:00 (local time) and lasted through 11:00, causing massive transportation delays. Protesters also placed logs and tires on the federal highway to prevent the vehicular circulation. Further related protests are expected in the coming days.
