Power outages are expected nationwide on Sunday, June 23, due to annual maintenance work. The capital Maputo, along with the Cabo Delgado, Manica, Nampula, Niassa, Sofala, Tete, and Zambezia provinces are concerned. As such, significant disruptions to daily life activties are likely in the abovementioned areas, along with increased concerns over road safety, as traffic lights will probably stop functioning. According to authorities, the power cut will affect the supply of drinking water in Nampula.


Individuals in Mozambique, particularly in the abovementioned areas, are advised to monitor the situation, keep battery-operated devices fully charged whenever possible, and to be cautious when driving or crossing streets if traffic signals are not functioning.
