On Wednesday, June 26, a forest fire started between Wiesenau and Ziltendorf in the district of Oder-Spree, covering an area of about 130 hectares. Due to the partly violent winds from different directions, the firing measures are difficult, and authorities are still trying to put the fire out as of Thursday, June 27. When the fire will be extinguished was not foreseeable. Some families were evacuated, but were able to return to their homes on Wednesday.
Individuals in Germany, particularly in Frankfurt and Hesse, are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
