The Security Secretariat announced on Wednesday, June 26, that it installed four additional monitoring centers with the aim of reinforcing security in Bogotá. Commanding Operatives of Citizen Security operated by the metropolitan police will now have more resources to review and visualize of all the CCTV security cameras installed in the city. This will allow police to have a better view of all that happens in the city in real time and the possibility to reference video cameras for analyzing past incidents.
Individuals in Colombia, and particularly Bogota, are always advised to travel with elevated caution. Rates of violent crime (drug-related, muggings, express kidnappings) remain high throughout Colombia, particularly in the capital Bogotá (home to 1300 gangs).
