6.5-magnitude offshore earthquake hits near Farallon de Pajaros June 29; further aftershocks possible

The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.5-magnitude earthquake roughly 70 km (43 mi) south of Farallon de Pajaros on Saturday, June 29, at approximately 01:51 (local time). The earthquake struck at a depth of 460 km (286 mi). No tsunami warning was issued by the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC). Aftershocks are possible in the coming hours and days.
