The east of the US is forecast to experience high temperatures beginning Wednesday, July 3, and lasting through at least Saturday, July 6, although it cannot be ruled out that they may continue for a few more days. The heatwave is expected to bring temperatures as high as 36°C (97°F) with nightly lows not sinking below 25°C (77°F). The heat wave will affect the central area of the United States, from Texas through to the east coast and from Minnesota down to Florida.
Individuals in these areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
