Protests over prolonged power outages in Bamunanika village (Central region) resulted in running battles with security forces on Wednesday, July 3. The clashes reportedly halted traffic on Mityana-Mubende highway for several hours after local residents obstructed roads in the area. Residents claim that the village has been left without power for three weeks, prompting business disruptions. 

A heightened security presence and residual disruptions to traffic are likely in the area over the coming hours.  


Individuals in Central region are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
