Protests for the opposition of a presidential term limit change have continued in Santo Domingo since the first scheduled protests that took place on Wednesday, June 26, at the National Congress . An ongoing heightened security presence has been issued at the National Congress for the past week since they began. Protests are expected to continue in the coming days.

Protesters are opposing a proposal to remove presidential term limits, which is largely advocated by President Danilo Medina's supporters. President Medina is currently serving his second term in office.
