As of Monday, July 8, the US National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting the formation of a tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week. According to meteorologists, there is an 80 percent chance of formation by Saturday, July 13. The low-pressure system is expected to strengthen as it moves slowly westward from the Florida panhandle region and bring heavy rain to the coasts of east Texas state and Louisiana state. Flooding and associated disruptions are possible.
