Protesters from Lurín district and Villa el Salvador district obstructed traffic at the San Luis Bridge, at kilometer 24.7 of the Pan-American Highway, on Tuesday, July 9, to demand the renovation of the San Luis pedestrian bridge. The protest comes after a truck hit and damaged the pedestrian bridge on Saturday, July 6. Police reportedly fired tear gas at the protesters to disperse the demonstration and allow the flow of traffic to resume at the site.
Similar demonstrations are possible on the stretch of the Pan-American Highway over the coming days, which may result in lingering traffic disruptions.
Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, prepare for residual traffic disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
