Armenia: Blackout reported nationwide July 10


Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan announced at approximately 21:00 (local time) on Wednesday, July 10, that all power issues have been resolved. A blackout affected most of the country, including the capital Yerevan, at approximately 13:00. Subway trains in Yerevan were temporarily out of service for over an hour before power could be restored to the system and passengers were able to be evacuated. Disruptions to the water supply, payment systems, and traffic lights were also reported during the outage. All systems are expected to return to normal by Thursday, July 11. An investigation into the cause of the blackout is ongoing.


Individuals in Armenia are advised to monitor developments to the situation and keep battery-operated devices fully charged whenever possible.
