Further protests to express solidarity with the Bidoon community are possible in Kuwait City on Thursday, July 11. Similar protests have been organized in the city since Monday, July 8, following the suicide of a 20-year old boy belonging to the community. If the protest goes ahead, it is likely to take place at Erada square, where previous ones have been held.
A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be anticipated near all protest sites.
The Bidoon is a stateless community, considered by the Kuwaiti authorities as illegal immigrants and as foreign nationals from neighboring countries.
Individuals in Kuwait, particularly in Kuwait City, are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, and avoid all protests and public gatherings.
