Police forces announced on Thursday, July 11, that roadblocks and checkpoints would be punctually implemented throughout the capital Kinshasa until further notice, as part of a security operation ongoing since Monday, July 8, to tackle criminality in the capital. At least 100 people have been arrested as of Friday, July 12. Traffic disruptions are possible across the capital, notably near checkpoints, in the coming days.
Individuals present in Kinshasa are advised to carry their ID papers with them at all times, adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities, and avoid any sudden movements if stopped at checkpoints.
