Chicago Police temporarily closed Randolph Street between Franklin and Wells streets in Chicago's Loop neighborhood (Illinois state) on Thursday afternoon (local time), July 18. Officials claim an active shooter drill at 225 West Randolph Street was not properly communicated and caused panic. Police officers are clearing the affected building as a precaution. Authorities have also confirmed that there was no active shooter threat.  

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in the area over the coming hours.
