Several opposition parties are calling for rallies to be held on Friday, July 19, and Thursday, July 25, to mark the anniversary of the 2018 general election and denounce the ongoing economic crisis in the country.
On July 19, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) opposition party is set to organize a march in Rawalpindi. On July 25, opposition party supporters, including from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) are expected to gather at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi. Similar protests are expected in major urban centers across the country.
A heightened security presence along with localized transportation disruptions are expected along the march route and in the vicinity of all protests.
Individuals in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi and Rawalpindi, are advised to avoid all public demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate localized transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
