New People's Army (NPA) gunmen killed four police officers in Negros Oriental province (Central Visayas region) on Thursday, July 18, a national police statement said. Rebels launched an assault in Ayungon town at 14:30 (local time), killing four officers and looting weapons. Security operations, militant activity, and associated violence and disruptions are likely in Negros Oriental in the near term.
