Taxi drivers are slated to protest app-based ride-sharing services on Tuesday, July 23, across Paraguay to mark the start of an indefinite nationwide strike in the country. Taxi drivers aim to put pressure on authorities regarding regulation for the ride-sharing services.

Disruptive marches are planned in Asuncion beginning at 04:00 (local time) through several streets in the capital. Street blockades are expected. Some have stated the strike will last until authorities give in to the calls for regulation.

Similar blockades should be expected in other urban centers on Tuesday. Taxi service interruptions are to be expected. Associated localized transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected in the vicinity of all protests.
