A demonstration is expected to take place in Bamako on Friday, July 26, to protest the presence of foreign security forces in Mali. According to US diplomatic authorities, participants plan to march from Place de la CAN to the Monument Bougiba from 14:00 (local time). While the protest is expected to remain peaceful, police have used tear gas and other riot control measures to disperse protesters at previous similar demonstrations.

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near the protest site.
