Morocco's Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) announced on Tuesday, July 23, that it had arrested multiple suspected militants across Souss-Massa region. Authorities claim the individuals had sworn allegiance to the Islamic State (IS). According to the government, the individuals were arrested in Tiznit, Massa, and El Kasba Inchaden


Morocco has a persistent low-level threat of terrorism. In 2017, 17 people died in the bombing of a popular market in Marrakesh.
